Black Ink supports puzzles in the Across Lite format, available from a variety of free and premium sources.

The app is pre-configured to download puzzles from the following premium subscription services:

• New York Times. The world-famous standard for intellectual puzzles that cover a range of topics.
• AV Club. a long-standing puzzle source featuring edgier puzzles by well-known “indie” crossword constructors.
• Inkubator. Dedicated to publishing puzzles created by women – cis women, trans women, and woman-aligned constructors.
• Crossword Nation. Liz Gorski’s weekly puzzles graded at a “NYT Tuesday” level of difficulty. Great for beginners and pros alike.
• Lex's Crosswords. Lex Friedman’s daily puzzles.

Premium puzzle subscriptions do not benefit Red Sweater financially but are a great way to expand the list of available puzzles in the app, and to show your support for the ongoing creation of new puzzles.
